Lora Josey, one of the leading ladies disability darts players, has re-signed with Winmau for a further two years, the world’s leading darts brand announced today.

Josey, who started playing in 1998 but didn’t join a league for another ten years, won her first American Darts Organisation event in 2012 and has gone on to win many more major darts league tournaments. Today she continues to compete in the final stages of most events she enters and is one of the top ranked lady players in the US.

Despite being diagnosed with Synovial Cell Sarcoma in 1991, aged 27, which resulted in her left leg being amputated, Josey continues to act as a positive role model to promote the sport for all players – both able-bodied and those with disabilities – and recently helped establish the American Disability Darts Association (ADDA).

Her example also resulted in her being invited to act as the World Disability Darts Association (WDDA) USA ambassador – a role she works tirelessly to support along with her chosen charity The Wounded Warrior Project.

“Winmau stands out in its passion and encouragement of the game for people with disabilities,” says Josey. “Not only do they directly support players like me, they are prepared to invest in the sport to provide new opportunities for those players with disabilities. I am thrilled to be continuing my work with Winmau and look forward to the day when a player with disabilities competes on the main stage in the BDO and PDC World Championships.”

Ian Flack, Winmau’s Sales and Marketing Director, added: “Laura is an inspiration to everyone who meets her. She is more than a fantastic darts player who has been at the top of the game for nearly a decade, she is an incredible person and a wonderful ambassador for Winmau and the sport as a whole. I am proud that we are able to continue working with her, and to continue our aspirations to increase the visibility and the popularity of the sport with our partners such as the WDDA, BDDA and ADDA.”
