| REPORT | GURNEY ENJOYS SUCCESSFUL RUN OF FORM IN BARNSLEY
Daryl Gurney enjoyed a spectacular run of form in Barnsley this weekend as he went all the way to the Final of Players Championship 15 on Saturday and on Sunday Afternoon he went all the way to the Semi-Finals. With doing so he will move into the top 16 of the PDC over the next few days as he participates in the PDC's World Series of Darts event in Las Vegas.

Saturday afternoon seen Players Championship 15 take place at the Barnsley Metrodome and with several big names missing due to them being on World Series duty Daryl Gurney took full advantage of the opportunity as he reached his fourth PDC final of 2017 after he enjoyed successes over the likes of Brendan Dolan 6-2, Zoran Lerchbacher 6-4, Harry Robinson 6-1, Robert Thornton 6-3, Dimitri van den Bergh 6-2, Justin Pipe 6-3 before losing out to Darren Webster 6-1 in the final. In Gurney's run to the final, he produced some scintillating performances and even in the Final against Webster it took a breath-taking display from Webster to stop Gurney from winning his second PDC title in 2017.

On Sunday afternoon in Barnsley, Players Championship 16 took place and after Gurney's heroics just 24 hours earlier he was in confident mood as he went all the way to the Semi-Finals losing out to the eventual winner Joe Cullen (6-2). On his way to the last four, The Londonderry ace produced a number of spectacular displays as he seen off Paul Nicholson 6-1, Matthew Edgar 6-2, Jermaine Wattimena and before he knew it he was into the last 16 with the minumum of fuss.
Gurney was on the live-stream board in the last 16 as he faced his opponent from the PC15 final on Saturday Darren Webster. It was an excellent contest with both players going at it, Gurney seen the Norfolk man off 6-4 producing some terrific tungsten as he averaged 94.46 and punishing some crucial missed opportunities from Webster. In the Quarter-Finals he faced his compatriot Brendan Dolan, it was a heavily contested match and Gurney just edged out Dolan 6-4 as he booked his place in his second Semi-Final in as many days. In the Semi's he came up against a tough opponent in Joe Cullen, Gurney found himself 2-0 down in the early stages after missing key shots at double in each of the first two legs allowing Cullen to take an early advantage. It was an uphill task for the Northern Ireland ace but he kept plugging away but Cullen completed a 6-4 win and he eventually went on to win Players Championship 16. For Gurney it was his second most successful weekend on the tour as he produced some sensational victories and in doing so has climbed into the elite top 16 in the World. It's onto Las Vegas now for Gurney as he makes his debut in the World Series of Darts closely followed by the big one - the Bet Victor World Matchplay in Blackpool.
