WINMAU WDDA WORLD MASTERS 2018 QUALIFICATION DETAILS ANNOUNCED

05 January, 2018

Winmau and the World Disability Darts Association (WDDA) announced today details of the qualification process for this year’s Winmau WDDA World Masters.

Twenty-four players will compete for the top title in world disability darts during the 2018 Winmau World Masters, the sport’s longest running major tournament, which takes place from the 3rd to 7th of October at a yet-to-be-announced venue.

The top ten players in the British Disability Darts Association (BDDA) “Road to the Winmau” ranking table at 31st August 2018 will gain automatic qualification. If defending champion, Kev Turner is ranked in the top ten, the BDDA’s eleventh placed player will qualify by right.

Four places will go to players from The Netherlands, the top three from their rankings plus the winner of the WDDA tournament at the Dutch Open. The top 3 players from the Belgian rankings will also participate.

In addition, the winner of The Hague Disability Darts Invitational will gain a spot, and six players will receive a wildcard invitation. In the event that a player qualifies twice by being ranked and winning a qualifying tournament, the next ranked player will qualify.

The defending champion, Kev Turner, will go straight through to the last 16. He will be joined by the top four BDDA ranked players, the top two Dutch players and the number one ranked Belgian. In the event that Kev Turner is ranked in the BDDA top four, the number five ranked BDDA player will go through to the last 16. The remaining 16 players will compete on the floor to win their place in the last 16.

“The Winmau WDDA World Masters is a showcase for the breadth and depth of talent in world disability darts. It’s keenly contested and always brings the best out in the players,” says Winmau’s Sales and Marketing Director, Ian Flack. “I am sure that the 2018 event will be no different and will once again add to the overall excitement and drama of the 45th Winmau World Masters.”

“With the number of players and countries participating in disability darts increasing, we are excited to increase the number of players this year who will qualify for the Winmau WDDA World Masters to 24,” says Sarah Smale the, WDDA Tournament Director.  “This could not be achieved without the support of Winmau and the BDO.
