Durrant and Sherrock Crowned World Trophy Champions

World Number 1 Glen Durrant picked up the BDO World Trophy title last night with a 10-7 win over Michael Unterbuchner. The Lakeside World Champion posted a 96.99 average as he held off Unterbuchner’s impressive high scoring. The German took an early 2-0 lead but Durrant soon bounced back, going 5-4 ahead at the break. A 130 finish helped Durrant then break to a 7-4 lead before closing out the match.

Durrant came through a tight match with close friend Jim Williams to book his spot in the final. Both men were involved in a ding-dong battle and went into the thirteenth leg level at 6-6. Durrant then kicked into another gear as he smashed in 11 dart and 15 dart final two legs to win 8-6. Unterbuchner also picked up an 8-6 win over Scotland’s Ross Montgomery to move through to the final. This was also a tight encounter with Unterbuchner displaying that extra piece of class to pick up the win with a 94.12 average.

In the Ladies competition, Fallon Sherrock defeated Winmau World Master Lorraine Winstanley 6-3 lift the title. Sherrock had been is lethal form all week, which included a stunning 4-3 comeback over Maria O’Brien earlier in the competition. In the final the young English thrower posted another 90+ average, a standard of scoring that her opponent simply couldn’t match.
