TOWERLANDS PARK, BRAINTREE, ESSEX
As part of new and exciting developments in its tournament calendar, the British Darts Organisation is re-locating the BDO Winmau British Classic to the expansive Towerlands Park Conference & Events Centre www.towerlandspark.com
set in 130 acres of Essex countryside at Braintree.
There is also a £1,000 increase for the 2010 Men’s Singles Champion, who will receive a cheque for £3,000.
After 12 years at Kettering Conference Centre in Northamptonshire, the 2010 BDO Winmau British Classic Men’s & Women’s Singles are moving south to be staged for the very first time at Towerlands Park on Saturday, July 24th.
To complete a weekend of hugely competitive and varied BDO darts, the Great Britain Finals of the Elkadart Darts World British Teenage Championships and the BDO British Inter-County Youth KO Cup will both be played in the same venue on Sunday, July 25th. “Towerlands Park is a fantastic venue which offers us lots of space all on one level, and a variety of facilities to accommodate the rising numbers of players and fans for this great weekend of BDO darts”, says Olly Croft.
“It is also conveniently located off the A120, just 15 minutes from the M11, five minutes from Braintree railway station, 20 minutes from Stansted Airport, and has free parking for 1,500 cars.”
The 2010 Winmau BDO British Classic Men’s & Women’s Singles will be contested by the top BDO players with a line-up likely to include reigning BDO Lakeside World Professional and double Winmau World Masters Champion MARTIN ADAMS, plus a host of top players including TONY O’SHEA, Winmau sponsored TED HANKEY, SCOTT WAITES and DARRYL FITTON.
The Men’s Singles Champion will collect a cheque for £3,000 (a £1,000 increase on last year) + trophy.
In the Women’s Singles the expected line-up is equally mouth-watering, with World No.1 and 8 times Lakeside Women’s World Pro Champion TRINA GULLIVER (sponsored by Winmau) being joined by Russian No.1 IRINA ARMSTRONG and Wales No.1 JULIE GORE.
The Women’s Singles Champion will collect a cheque for £500 + trophy.
