WINMAU ANNOUNCES SPONSORSHIP OF TWO TALENTED THAI PLAYERS

Winmau, the world’s leading darts brand, has expanded its international field of sponsored players with the announcement that it is to back two of Thailand’s up-and-coming talents.

32-year old Preecha ‘Tum’ Koomkrong, who lives in the Chachoengsao province, was the number one ranked Thai player in 2017 when he claimed a win and two runners-up finishes in the Winmau-sponsored The One Amateur steel tip darts series. His best achievement so far this year is fifth in the Bangkok MWA-Baan-Tha-it Darts Open.

Koomkrong, who is a hospital worker, uses Winmau Vanguard 18 gram darts and has his aim set on securing one of Thailand’s open titles this year.

“Being sponsored by the most famous name in the sport is a huge honour,” says Koomkrong. “It has boosted my confidence and given me the added incentive and impetus to practice even harder and longer to repay Winmau’s faith in me.”

Joining Koomkrong as a Team Winmau player is 29-year old government worker Sarawuth Jodtang who plays under the nickname ‘M’ and lives in Chonburi Province in eastern Thailand. Like his compatriot, he uses 18 gram Winmau Vanguard darts and has competed in the Malaysian Darts Open for the last several years, with a best finish of third in the team open event in 2016. He finished 16^th in the 2017 PDC World Championship Asia Qualifier.
