Advantage Atkinson in the ADC Rankings

With Matt Jackson playing in the Online Live League, Adam Atkinson took full advantage in the race for number 1 in the ADC rankings winning the Consett Station Club KO to close the 28-point gap to a four-point advantage, picking up 32 points after beating Tony Wood 4-3 in a last leg decider to win the Final.

A further four points were added for the Championship Tour 1 winner as he reached the Last 32 of both South Gorsforth Club: June Knockout and the Globe Hotel June Darts Open in Gateshead. The weekends results have put the Englishman 8 points clear at the top of the rankings with 634 points whilst Matt ‘The Action’ Jackson sits second with 626 points.

The 3^rd and 4^th Championship Tour Events in Bristol are coming up with a staggering 256 rankings points available to the winner at the start of July. Jackson did not play in the first two events but now after going second, the need for points has gone up after his reign of being the ADC number 1 came to an end for now.

Tony Wood slightly closed the gap on the ADC top four after reaching the Final of the Consett Station Club KO which earnt him 16 points, before losing in the Quarter Finals of the Globe Hotel Darts Open to William Robson after beating Raymond Marshall and Gary Stephens to reach the Last 8. 8 points were earnt for his QF run, moving the 54-year-old onto 404 points in the rankings.

PDC tour card holder and Ally Pally Quarter Finalist Ryan Joyce took home the title in Gateshead on Saturday, beating Daniel Lee 5-0 in the Final with a 91.65 average but because Relentless is a PDC player the ranking points are ineligible for him. 64 points were available to the likes of Atkinson and Geoff Murray who both played on Saturday.

Father beat son in the Final of the Bar501 Kingswood Round Robin as John Brown beat father and ADC chairman Steve 4-3 in the Final, including a 70 checkout in two darts to take a 3-0 lead. The Bomber clawed his way back to 3-3 but couldn’t complete the comeback as the 22-year-old found a 49 finish in the deciding leg to clinch another win in Bristol after he beat the ADC number 1 in the Final last week.

Action continues this weekend with Steve Brown entered in the for Morden Open taking place in Surrey on Saturday as well as the Streamline Taxis York Open staging its tenth tournament on Saturday.
