Reigning World Grand Prix champion Daryl Gurney produced a lethal finishing display to defeat John Henderson in his first round fixture.

Raymond van Barneveld survived an early scare as he defeated “Rapid” Ricky Evans 2-1 whilst his World Cup team-mate Michael van Gerwen whitewashed debutant Steve Lennon. MvG avoided a second consecutive opening round defeat in emphatic fashion as the World number one missed just 1 dart at a finishing double.

Darren Webster and Dave Chisnall both also enjoyed 2-0 wins over Stephen Bunting and Max Hopp respectively. Closing the night, recently crowned Champions League of Darts winner Gary Anderson comfortably defeated Welsh debutant Jonny Clayton 2-0 to close the night.
