Team360 Roundup - W/E 16th July 2023

17 July, 2023

On the back of the Pro Tours taking place on Monday and Tuesday, Jurjen Van der Velde was in
attendance at the Development from Friday to Sunday.
Three 90 plus averages followed in the opening tournament of the weekend, before adding another
three wins to the tally on Friday evening.
Van der Velde would defeat a handful of fellow Dutchman en route to the quarter-finals in event 19,
averaging 101 in defeating Jim Moston before losing out to Wessel Nijman. He would add a further
couple of points to his average on the Sunday, reaching heights of 103 in whitewashing Keelan Kay.
It was a hugely improved weekend from Kay after struggling in the last couple of Development Tour
weekends. The Plymouth based thrower reached two quarter-finals on the opening day!
He would whitewash Janek Hill with a 98 average before losing out to Cam Crabtree in the last eight
of event 16. A run that would be mirrored in event 17, as he became one of few players to defeat
Luke Littler, doing so with a 101 average.
Following his success at the Europe Cup last weekend, Connor Hopkins continued the excellent form
in the PDC system. He defeated former JDC Super 16 finalist, Thomas Banks, to reach the last 32 on
day one.
Having made the quarter-finals in Austria last week, Adam Dee was another talent looking to back
that up in Leicester. After suffering opening round defeats on day one, he would see off Johnny
Stewart in event 18 to get a win under the belt. Dee would also defeat Mark Connolly later in the
week, but ran into some top performances elsewhere.
Anther of the successful Welsh contingent, Riley Ress-Tucker, would make it through the opening
round of all five events at the weekend, a huge achievement itself in a stacked field of talent. It
would be a similar story for Cayden Smith, who missed out on just two opening round wins during
the weekend.
Outside of a busy weekend of Development Tour action, the aforementioned Smith was victorious in
Superleague action, defeating tour card holder, Nick Fullwell. Fabien Tapner also claimed success in
the Bridgend darts league, winning the singles league.
Finally, Connor Hopkins went top of the Go Darts Pro leaderboard, setting the highest score in the
Enduro Challenge.
