THE ADC INTRODUCES THE WINMAU OPEN SERIES

06 February, 2023

The Amateur Darts Circuit agreed a deal in 2022 to allow qualified players the opportunity to play in front of the camera, live on YouTube for the MODUS Super Series. The likes of Adam Mould and Adam Warner have prevailed in Portsmouth, with the man from Sheffield going on to claim a PDC tour card at this year’s UK Qualifying School in Milton Keynes.

An opportunity returns this year as the ADC announce a further 4 places will be available to all those who win a competition at the Winmau Open Series 2023 at Wythenshawe Forum, Manchester.

Entries are £12.50 through the website Darts Atlas with 4 events running over 2 days on the 8th and 9th of April, giving grassroots players from across the country the chance to play the likes of Fallon Sherrock, Martin Adams, and Trina Gulliver, who have all appeared on the MODUS Super Series stage before.

Wythenshawe Forum played host to last year’s Winmau Championship Tours 5 and 6, events Adam Smith-Neale and Lee Budgen claimed glory in. Big Dog went on to win a tour card in Milton Keynes at the start of the year, winning Final Stage Event 4 on the Sunday, in what was the last event of UK Q School.

The ADC have been a revelation since they started running, with the focus on the individual bringing out potential new players, to challenge the sports very best.

The MODUS Super Series offers £5,000 to the winner of each weekly Round Robin competition, with ADC Number 9 Adam Mould showing everyone what’s possible when you play consistently in events and qualifiers, going on to beat Ian Moss 4-3 in the Grand Finale.

Mouldy was involved in Champions Week, with £20,000 going to Australian Raymond Smith after he beat Matt Clark 4-3 in the Final.

The Winmau Open Series will also grant players the opportunities to earn points, going towards the overall ADC Rankings for 2023. Paul Nesbitt from the Northeast currently leads the way in the rankings with 266 points, followed by Peter Jacques in 2nd with 224pts.

The more points you earn throughout the year will boost your chances to travel and compete at the MODUS Super Series in Portsmouth. Winmau’s Steve Brown sits 2nd in the Southwest region rankings behind Ryan Palmer, with the Lion on 117 points after January. The Bomber is currently involved in the MSS after finishing third in the ADC Rankings from 2022.

The upcoming Winmau Open Series will take place on the 8th and 9th of April in Manchester, with a total prize pot of £2450 per event and £9800 for the entirety of the weekend. A win in an event will give you the opportunity to earn up to £5,000, and then the potential chance to play the MODUS Super Series Champions Week for £20,000.
