The King Marches on into Quarter-finals - World Grand Prix Day Three

09 October, 2019

Mervyn King claimed his spot in the last 8 of the BoyleSports World Grand Prix last night with a 3-1 comeback win over James Wade.

Wade won a close opening set before King took a nervy second to level 1-1, from there Mervyn really set the stage alight with fantasy scoring. King took set 3 with a 3-1 scoreline before a whitewash in the final set.

Michael van Gerwen now awaits him in the quarter-finals after a rampant 3-0 win over fellow Dutchman Jeffrey de Zwaan.

The reigning champion produced the highest average of the tournament, 94.79, winning all three sets comfortably (3-0, 3-1, 3-1).

Elsewhere, Ian White came back from a 1-0 deficit to defeat “Bully Boy” Michael Smith 3-1 and Chris Dobey picked up a scalp of Gary Anderson in the same fashion, winning 3-1.
