The Wizard of Oz returns Down Under - Brisbane Darts Masters

09 August, 2019

Australian darting icon Simon Whitlock returns to his homeland over the next three weeks on the World Series of Darts Tour, starting at the Brisbane Darts Masters.

Whitlock will take to the stage in front of a hometown crowd in Brisbane tonight, facing Brendon McCausland, a man who once worked on Simon’s arm tattoos.

Nicknamed ‘The Beard to be feared’, Simon can’t wait to get back to playing on the big stage in the Southern Hemisphere,

“I’ve always loved this leg of the World Series of Darts, it’s an honour to be able to play televised darts in my home country”

“Darts here in Australia has grown so much since I joined the PDC and it’s fantastic to see the top players get a chance on the stage. It’s a superb atmosphere here in Brisbane and I just want it all to get underway!”

Elsewhere in the opening round of fixtures, World number 3 Daryl Gurney faces Koha Kokiri as he continues his appearances on the World Series of Darts.

Gurney dropped out at the quarter-final of the US Darts Masters before blitzing his way to the World Matchplay semi-finals and will back himself to add to his list of PDC titles.

The Brisbane Darts Masters will be broadcast live on Fox Sports across Australia and worldwide through the PDC's international broadcast partners, as well as through PDCTV-HD for Rest of the World Subscribers (outside of the UK, Ireland & Netherlands).

UK TV coverage on ITV4 will be from 7pm BST on each night.
