Daryl Gurney faces Winmau stablemate Steve Beaton in the opening round of the bwin World Series of Darts Finals tonight. Superchin booked his place in Vienna with the aid of back-to-back quarter-final appearances in the World Series’ US Darts Masters and Shanghai Darts Masters. He’ll face Steve Beaton, who came through the qualifiers last month in Barnsley.
The winner of that match will face 2018 European Championships runner-up Simon Whitlock in Round 2. The Wizard of Oz put together a sparkling run last week in Dortmund which included wins over Peter Wright and Joe Cullen before suffering a narrow loss to James Wade in the final.
Winmau’s Canadian youngster Dawson Murschell unfortunately had to pull out of the tournament in Vienna after being taken before his flight from Heathrow Airport. Awesome Dawson will now be replaced by Max Hopp, who will face Dave Chisnall in his place. Get well soon Dawson!
The winner of Hopp and Chisnall’s tussle will face number 4 seed Gary Anderson whilst number one seed Peter Wright faces the winner of Gerwyn Price and Royden Lam.
Michael van Gerwen is aiming for a fourth consecutive World Series of Darts Finals title, the Green Machine will face the winner of Maik Langendorf or Damon Heta in the second round on Saturday.
The tournament begins this evening at 20:00 Local time (19:00 UK time) and will be broadcast Live on ITV4 in the UK and through the PDC's worldwide broadcast partners.
