Winmau and the WDDA Commit to Promoting Disability Darts in 5 Year Partnership

Winmau, the world’s leading darts brand, and the World Disability Darts Association (WDDA) have signed a 5 year agreement which will ensure a continued partnership to progress the growth of disability darts on a global scale.

The WDDA was founded by Russ Strobel, and Winmau has supported this incredible organisation from its inception. The darts giant gave disability darts a worldwide platform by including a WDDA event in the 2014 Winmau World Masters, and this year’s World Masters (won by Vince D’Hond from Belgium) included a prize fund for the participants.

The WDDA and Winmau also successfully staged the inaugural WDDA Winmau Classic last month. What’s more, the two organisations are delighted to announce that there will be a series of new events next year where players with disability can earn ranking points to qualify for participation in the 43rd Winmau World Masters. This series will be titled the "Road to the Winmau” and further details will be released in due course.

Russ Strobel of the WDDA said "Winmau have always treated us with respect and integrity and it is thanks to their commitment and hard work that we have made such big strides for disability darts on a worldwide basis. New opportunities are emerging for such players around the world, and I would like to thank everyone who has been involved. The British Dart Organisation have been fantastic in embracing the WDDA and our players, and with the help of organisations like this and the backing of Winmau, the future of disability darts looks very bright.”

Ian Flack, Winmau’s Sales and Marketing Director, added "Russ and his team work tirelessly and selflessly to provide new avenues for players with disability to enjoy the sport. We are immensely proud to be working with them, and we have some exciting future initiatives that will benefit all involved in disability darts. We can’t thank the WDDA enough for all they do to widen the reach of the sport, to encourage participation and even aid recovery.”
