World^s Best Dartboard: Winmau Blade 4
Thanks to our friends at Winmau, the Chat Sports office was fortunate enough to test out and review what is known as the best dartboard and darts set on the market. We knew this was the best product available because of its outstanding reviews all over the web, but would it hold up to the vigorous track-testing at the Chat Sports office? To put it simply and eloquently: yes!
Straight out of the box, we could tell the high quality of the blade 4 because of the sturdiness of both the wiring system and the sisal fibers they use on the board instead of cheap cork. What also makes this board so unique is that is features the new DSW (Dynamic Sector Wire) which is over 50% thinner than competing boards, creating best-in-class performance and optimum scoring possibilities. For the average dartboard players like us, we were not sure how we would be affected by this new dartboard technology, but we were pleasantly surprised that we noticed the difference almost immediately.
We have had the dartboard up in our office for nearly 24 hours now, and have played 25+ games and not once have we had a dart bounce back off the board. The supreme quality of the board’s fibers and the thinness of the wires makes a huge difference is the rate at which the darts bounce back. If you play on a cheap cork board at a bar, you will find that darts will bounce off the wires or wont stick in the board. This is a quite annoying quality that makes darts games more cumbersome and less enjoyable. Fortunately, Winmau has perfected this problem and created a board that is flawless in this aspect. Despite being labeled as an expert dartboard, this is a very fun board for average dart-players to play on because it is so playable.
In addition to sending us this wonderful board, we were also lucky enough to try out Winmau’s professional darts. Winmau sent us their Assault darts which feature 90% tungsten and weigh in at a nice 26 grams. We really like these darts for a few reasons. 1) Because these darts are made of high quality materials they fly true and straight. 2) Since these darts have a good amount of weight to them we are able to be more accurate with each throw. Lighter darts are harder to be more accurate with because they tend to float, which causes inaccuracy. The nice weight helps the darts stick into the board more efficiently – further helpingreduce bounce outs. 3) These darts have a great grip to them which makes them nice to hold. Most cheap darts have little to no grip and have a straight shaft. These pro series darts go above and beyond and provide the user a great amount of grip which helps the player be more accurate with each throw.
We would like to thank our friends at Winmau agagin for sending us their world-class product. This is a great product for dart players of all skill levels, and features technology that makes an immediate difference in the quality of the game.
