It was a huge week in the careers of our young dartists so it’s only right to kick things off
with a run down of how our young stars fayred in Gibraltar at the opening stages of the
JDC World Championship and surrounding competitions.
Mongolian star Tergel Khurelkhuu was a standout performer throughout the time on the
rock. After going unbeaten through the group stages, a 93 average followed to see off
James Tate in convincing fashion. After adding another two wins to his resume, Tergel
was pipped at the post by Belgian prodigy Lex Paeshuyse, who will be one half of the
final in London.
Drake Porter was the another star attraction in the junior games premiere competition,
reaching the semi-finals. Porter squeezed past James Morris and Piotr Chochol before
his campaign was ended by Daniel Stephenson at the final hurdle.
Elsewhere in the World Championship there was a last 16 appearance for Jack Johnson
who will compete in the Super 16 final in Milton Keynes in January, with Jack Nankervis
and Nico Bado also making the last 32.
The team time in Gibraltar was not completely dominated by the World Championship
with Ryan Branley and Jack Nankervis playing our a superb final in the Luke Littler
Legacy Open. ‘The Nuke’ was on hand to dish out the star prize to Branley who averaged
a magnificent 92 in a deciding leg win over Devon thrower who averaged 83 himself. A
special mention also goes to Hayden Ball who reached the quarter-finals on debut and
has settled in brilliantly to life in Team360.
Branley and Nankervis were also crowned JDC World Cup champions, sharing the
accolade with Archie Self and Kieron Thomspon and Team England took out
Netherlands B in the final.
Heading away from Gibraltar to round off the weeks action, there was an ADC Vault win
for Adam Dee which included a 154 checkout as he came from 2-0 to grasp the final
win. Riley Rees-Tucker would also reach a quarter-final on the vault series with Fabian
Tapner having a semi-final run.
