Richard Veenstra picked up the Winmau BDO British Classic and BDO British Open singles titles in Bridlington this weekend.
The BDO ranked no.8 defeated fellow Dutchman Wes Harms 6-5 in Saturday’s British Classic final before he then saw-off Michael Unterbuchner 6-3 in the British Open final.
Laura Turner lifted the Ladies British Classic as she defeated reigning World Champion Lisa Ashton 5-1 in an impressive display. Ashton would go a step further on Sunday however, as the Lancashire Rose defeated in-form Fallon Sherrock 5-1 to win the Ladies British Open event.
In the BDDA events Jonathan Hirst became the 2018 BDDA British Open Champion with a close fought 3-2 victory over Team Winmau’s Ricky Chilton. In the BDDA British Classic, reigning BDDA Winmau World Master Kevin Turner was defeated 3-0 by Paul Gelder.
