Winmau has been announced as an official sponsor of the most prestigious tournament in softip darts – the International Dart Federation World Cup – which has a total prize fund of US $80,000.
The 2012 event once again takes place in Shanghai and is held over 4 days from November 6th to 9th. There are 5 titles to be won as hundreds of players from all over the world converge on the impressive venue in Shanghai.
Joe Mei, Deputy Secretary General of the IDF, said “To have a huge global brand such as Winmau supporting the tournament is fantastic! They are obviously well known for their premium bristle dartboards, but they also sell countless softip darts and accessories, and their growth in this area over the past few years has been staggering. The IDF World Cup is the event that every softip player (and many steeltip players) want to win, and now Winmau has thrown it’s might behind the tournament, I am sure that they will be even more determined to become champion!”.
Ian Flack, Winmau’s Sales and Marketing Director, said “It’s amazing to see the pace that softip darts is growing worldwide (and particularly in Asia), but it’s not just the rapid growth that’s impressive – it’s also the talent of the players. The IDF World Cup is the softip equivalent of the Lakeside World Championships, and the fact that it included such names as Paul Lim and Anastasia Dobromyslova amongst it’s champions last year shows what a great tournament it is. We are delighted to be associated with this high-profile IDF event, and we wish all players the very best of luck”.
