The 27th Winmau Antwerp Open takes place this weekend from the Belgica Hall of the Royal Antwerp Yacht Club, Thonetlaanlaan 133, Antwerp, Belgium.
This high profile tournament is a part of a national cooperation of 4 tournaments under the banner of The International Belgium Darts Tour.
There are international ranking points on offer, which ensures that the event attracts the world’s top players who will compete for men’s, women’s and youth titles. 30 out of the top 32 players from the men’s BDO rankings table will be present and 14 of the top 16 women will attempt to win the trophy.
The Winmau Antwerp Open has a truly international flavour, with over 500 players coming from England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Norway, Germany, Italy, Russia, Holland, Belgium and others.
This tournament has a unique twist, as it offers an amateur tournament as well as those events for the professional players. The amateur competition starts at 6pm (UK time) on Friday, followed by the Mixed Pairs. The Men’s and Women’s Pairs start at 11am on Saturday, and Sunday plays host to the headline events – the Men’s, Women’s and Youth Singles, which starts at 9am.
The total prize money is more than 17,500 euros and the tournament is played under the auspices of the Belgium Darts Federation, the British Darts Organisation and the World Darts Federation.
