Winmau, the world’s leading darts brand, are delighted to announce the signing of Bobby “The King of Bling” George. Bobby is without doubt the most colourful, charismatic and entertaining player in the history of darts and he didn^t even pick up a dart until he was 30 years of age!
The deal comes after a hugely successful and high-profile career for Bobby totalling over 35 years as both a player and an ever-present BBC commentator at the Lakeside World Championships (since 1999). Bobby is twice a Lakeside (Embassy) World Championship finalist and he is a World Darts Federation Europe Cup Winner, but his greatest achievement was winning the News of the World Championship in 1979. This was one of the hardest tournaments to win and Bobby did it in typical style – he is the only player to have won this prestigious title without dropping a single leg! He won the News of the World for the second time in 1986, and Bobby has proudly represented his country 26 times.
Bobby is a family man and a keen fisherman. He combines these 2 loves at his 18 bedroom mansion George Hall - he lives with his wife Marie and his 2 sons Robert and Richie (the latter being a great up and coming dart player in his own right) and also has 3 fishing lakes on his property!
