The Dutch men and the Welsh women were crowned Winmau Six Nations Cup champions in Texel, The Netherlands. For the Dutch, it was the first win in their history in this competition and the victory was made all the more sweet on home soil!
The current World and European Champions defeated the tournament favourites, England, in the final with an English team including Scott Waites, Tony O^Shea, and Martin Atkins. The Dutch team of Jan Dekker, Wesley Harms, Rick Hofstra, Dennis te Kloese, Remco van Eijden and Benito van de Pas triumphed 13 – 9 and their compatriots nearly achieved the same feat in the women’s event.
The Dutch women were up against the hugely talented Welsh team in the final, which included Julie Gore. It was a closely fought encounter, but the Welsh did just enough to win 5 – 3. This was their second title in the Six Nations Cup.
The entire tournament was broadcast live via Winmau TV and other internet platforms and more than 45,000 people followed it. The matches can be viewed on: www.ustream.tv/ndbdarts
