Winmau, the world’s leading darts brand, is supporting a brand new Middle East Masters tour in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Qatar.
Two of the best known names in the world of darts, Winmau superstar Bobby George and Eric Bristow, will be in Dubai next January. The legendary pair, along with 4 other professionals will be appearing in the first ever Dubai Darts Masters on 31st January 2013 at the new Marriott Marquis Hotel, Sheikh Zayed Road and The Crowne Plaza, Hamdan Street, in Abu Dhabi.
The evening will have a competitive edge as well, because 4 Dubai-based players will pre-qualify to take part in a knockout challenge against Colin “Jaws” Lloyd, Martin “Wolfie” Adams, the “Dutch Matchstick “ Co Stompe and Tony David “The Deadly Boomerang”. The eventual winner will receive the inaugural Dubai Masters Cup. Between them these four professionals hold a host of World, Masters and Regional titles and guarantee a night of top class darts action.
Speaking about the event from his home in Essex, Bobby said “I have wanted to return to Dubai ever since my first visit nearly 15 years ago. It was a wonderful trip and the people were so hospitable. Roll on January when we can throw some arrows and have some fun”.
Bobby and Eric will be entertaining the audience with exhibition darts and friendly banter during the evening. David Skidmore, of the promoters Eventoursports, added “Dubai hosts some fantastic sporting events throughout the year but for some reason we have been starved of top quality darts. This event will mix the competitive edge of professional darts with the light hearted leg pulling and mickey taking for which the two legends are renowned”.
