Winmau Backs New US Darts Organisation

Winmau Backs New US Darts Organisation

26 October, 2017

Winmau, the world’s leading darts brand, is to be the exclusive sponsor of the newly formed United States Sports Dart Alliance (USSDA), which aims to promote the steeltip game by organising events and tournaments across America.

Created on the 4th of July this year, the USSDA has already formed relationships with a number of regional darts bodies across Georgia and North and South Carolina, and is also supported by Winmau’s US distributor, Dutchman Darts. In actively seeking similar relationships across the US, the USSDA intends building league-driven, grass roots darts to offer players of all abilities the chance to compete in national events.

The USSDA’s inaugural tournament, the Winmau 501 National, is scheduled to take place in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, on the 27th of October 2017. Players have qualified through a series of satellite competitions and will initially compete in groups before moving into a knock-out phase. The USSDA will also be organising the Winmau Cricket National.

“Having the largest name in the sport behind us is a tremendous boost to our ambition,” says USSDA president, Chuck Hudson. “We were created by darts enthusiasts for darts enthusiasts to promote steeltip darts in the USA, as well as its players and officials, by partnering with organisations across the country. We have some big ideas and they start with the Winmau 501 National.”

Ian Flack, Winmau’s Sales and Marketing Director, adds: “The Winmau brand has gone from strength to strength in the USA and the board of choice of the USSDA (the Blade 5) is firmly established as the number 1 board in the region. Chuck and the USSDA team have the vision, drive and skillset to take the sport to the next level and I am delighted we are able to support them.”
