After a thrilling opening weekend that saw 7 players win in the ADC/WADC Championship Tour, the amateur darting extravaganza returns this weekend, for 8 more competitions at Eston Sports Academy.
£6000 to winners alone was awarded on Easter Weekend, with £1000 to each champion in the Winmau Championship Tour, whilst the Women’s Amateur Darts Circuit gives out £500 to each winner.
The players will also battle it out to finish in the top 8 positions in the Championship Tour Order of Merit, with respective Finals Days for the ADC and the WADC scheduled to take place at the MODUS Super Series, towards the end of the year.
In the Winmau Championship Tour, it’s Gary Stone who leads the way with 648 points, after going undefeated on Easter Sunday.
Compatriot Andy Boulton sits in 2nd having claimed the opening tournament success of the year, whitewashing Stoney in the Final. Stone does have a healthy 271-point advantage, going into the 2nd weekend of action.
Event 2 winner Bradley Brooks and former WDF World Champion Neil Duff are 3rd and 4th in the rankings, whilst other names further down will hope to bring themselves back into contention this weekend.
In the WADC Order of Merit, it’s Vicky Pruim who sits top having claimed victory in Event 2, before returning the following day to reach the Final of Event 3. Vicky defeated Eleanor Cairns in a last leg decider, whilst averaging 88.41 in a 4-0 win over Eve Watson in the Quarter Finals.
Angela Kirkwood ended the 50 year old’s winning streak with victory in the Event 3 Final, clinching a 4-3 Final win, sitting 2nd with just 4 points separating her from Swedish international Pruim.
After last year’s Championship Tour Finals Day in which Deta Hedman became the inaugural winner, the competition this year is just as fierce, as the fight to reach the Live Lounge intensifies.
The Heart of Darts and Fallon Sherrock won the other 2 events to make it 4 different winners in Middlesbrough, with the likes of Lorraine Hyde and Samantha Kirton also enjoying deep runs.
£1000 will be awarded to the winner at the WADC Finals Day in November, whilst £2000 will go to the winner of the Winmau Championship Tour Finals Day. To qualify, you need to finish in the Top 8 places based on the 16 Events through the year, with the 2nd instalment this weekend.
This will be the final weekend at Eston Sports Academy, before the attention switches to Bradmoor Farm, for the 2nd half of the Winmau Championship Tours in June and August.
Events 5-8 commence on the 25th and 26th of May, with play set to begin from 10am in Middlesbrough, as the hunt for ranking points in the respective Order of Merits resumes.
