Winmau Blade X Dartboard – Five-Year Limited Warranty

Scope and Duration of Coverage

By purchasing and using the Winmau Blade X dartboard (the Product), you acknowledge that you have read and understood the warranty terms below.

Subject to the rest of this warranty document, Nodor International LTD. (Winmau) warrants to the purchaser that the Product will be free from manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship, for a period of five (5) years from the date of original retail purchase. This warranty applies only to the Product and is only available to the original purchaser.

This warranty only applies in respect of the Product, registered within 28 days of purchase, when used for normal personal home use.  home use” means use in a private residential setting for recreational play. Any commercial, institutional, or competitive use is excluded – for example, use in pubs, clubs, bars, tournaments, leagues, or other public venues or for organised events. Likewise, use in any environment that is not a typical indoor home (such as outdoor installations, garages, sheds, or other non-climate-controlled or high-humidity locations) is outside the scope of this warranty.

Covered Defects – Manufacturing Workmanship and Materials

This warranty covers manufacturing defects in the Product that arise despite proper use and care. A “manufacturing defect” means a flaw in materials or workmanship that existed at the time of manufacture, and which causes the Product to fail under normal home use. Examples of covered defects include, but are not limited to:

  • Structural Failures of the Board: Any cracking, splitting, or breaking of the Product’s structure due to a defect in materials or assembly.
  • Delamination or Adhesive Failures: Separation or peeling of the board that arises from faulty adhesive or production processes.
  • Abnormal or Premature Fiber Degradation that is inconsistent with normal wear and tear. In other words, premature failure of the board’s playing surface that is not attributable to the user’s usage patterns, environment, or equipment may be covered.

If a covered manufacturing defect is confirmed by Winmau, Winmau will, at its sole discretion, repair the Product or replace the Product with the same or an equivalent model. In cases where repair or replacement is not reasonably available, Winmau may elect, at its discretion, to provide a refund of the original purchase price for the defective Product. This does not extend to any separate accessories or mounting hardware (which may carry their own terms if applicable).

Please Note: minor cosmetic irregularities or variations in the Product’s surface are normal and are not considered defects. This warranty covers only genuine defects that impair the function or structural integrity of the Product, not minor cosmetic issues inherent to the natural materials.

Exclusions – What is Not Covered

The following are excluded from coverage under this warranty:

  • Normal Wear and Tear: Dartboards naturally wear out with use. Gradual degradation of the board over time is expected and is not covered.
  • Cosmetic and Aesthetic Issues: Cosmetic changes that do not affect functionality are not covered. This includes fading of colours or paint on numbers/logos over time, slight discolouration due to light exposure, or other aesthetic changes.
  • Wear from Regular Use Concentrated in Spots: Any localised wear or damage that is consistent with use in that area is not covered. For example, “bullseye wear” (heavy wear to the bull or 25-ring area) or localised impact damage to a particular number segment from frequent practice is considered a result of play, not a defect.
  • Bounce-outs caused by normal wear or by hitting the wire are also not defects.
  • Damage or Deterioration Due to Misuse or Abuse: Any damage resulting from use of the Product outside its intended purpose or in an improper manner is excluded. Any accidental damage, such as dropping the Product during installation or spilling liquids on it, are also not covered. Additionally, intentional modifications or alterations to the Product will void the warranty. Any evidence of tampering with the Product or attempts to repair the Product by anyone other than Winmau or an authorised agent, will void this warranty.
  • Improper or Excessive Use; Failure to Follow Guidelines: The warranty will not cover issues that arise from use that deviates from home use as defined above. This includes using the Product for excessive periods without rotation or rest, or in a manner that concentrates wear improperly. Specifically, Winmau recommends limiting play to a reasonable amount (approximately no more than 2 hours per day on average over the life of the Product as a general guideline), and spreading play across all segments (with regular board rotation) to avoid premature wear in one spot – failure to heed these guidelines may result in damage that is not warrantied.
  • Excessive force when mounting to stands: Damage caused as a result of over tightening the board to a dartboard stand.
  • Use of Unapproved Dart Points or Equipment: Damage caused by the use of darts or accessories that are not appropriate for a standard bristle dartboard are not covered. The Product is designed for use with standard steel-tip darts that have non aggressive steel points only. If there is evidence that the board was used with improper dart points – for example, grooved or ground or sharpened points, specialist grip points, or any modified/custom points that cause excessive cutting or gouging of the fibres is not covered.
  • Environmental Damage: Environmental factors. This warranty does not cover damage or deterioration caused by exposure to moisture, liquids, or extreme conditions. For example, if a board swells, warps, mildews, or delaminates because it was kept in a damp area (garage, basement, outdoors) or exposed to weather (rain, humidity, extreme heat or cold), such damage is environmental and not due to a manufacturing defect. Moisture-related damage of any kind will void the warranty. The same applies to damage from direct sunlight or heat sources, or from being in freezing temperatures. The Product must be kept in a climate-controlled indoor environment; any damage attributable to not doing so is excluded from coverage.
  • Products Not Purchased New or from Authorised Source: This warranty applies only to new, genuine Products purchased from Winmau or an authorised retailer. Any issues with boards obtained second-hand, as hand-me-downs, or from unauthorised sellers are not covered. Additionally, if any product identification markings have been removed or defaced, Winmau may deem the warranty void.
  • Expiration of Warranty / Out-of-Warranty Issues: Any defect that first manifests after the five-year warranty term, or any claim made outside the warranty period, is not covered. Additionally, any claim for which the required documentation (proof of purchase, etc.) cannot be furnished will not be covered.

Warranty Conditions – Proper Use and Care Requirements

For this warranty to remain in effect, the customer must follow Winmau’s installation and maintenance guidance. Failure to adhere to any of these conditions may, at Winmau’s discretion, void the warranty or result in denial of a warranty claim. The above guidance can be found here.

Warranty Claims Process

If you believe your Product has experienced a covered manufacturing defect within the 5-year warranty period, please follow this claims process to seek a remedy. All warranty claims are subject to verification of the defect by Winmau as described below:

  1. Prompt Claim Submission: As soon as you discover a potential defect in your Product that you believe is covered under this warranty, stop using the Product and complete a claim form at Blade X Warranty Claim. Alternatively, you may contact the authorised retailer from whom you purchased the board, but do not return the Product to the retailer without instructions. When completing the claim form, provide a clear description of the problem. It is advisable to do this promptly upon noticing the defect, and in all cases the claim must be initiated within the warranty term (no later than 5 years from purchase).
  2. Proof of Purchase: You will need to provide proof of the original purchase date and that you are the original purchaser of the Product. Acceptable proof of purchase typically is a sales receipt, invoice, or order confirmation that clearly shows the purchase date, the Product, and the seller’s name. If you registered your Product with Winmau at purchase (if such registration is available), that registration may also serve as proof. Failure to provide proof of purchase may delay or invalidate the warranty claim.
  3. Photographic Evidence and Information: To expedite your claim, Winmau requires that you provide photographic evidence of the defect and the overall condition of the dartboard. You should take clear photos (or video, if helpful) highlighting the defect. Along with photos, please include a written description of the issue, including when you first noticed it, how long the Product was used, and under what conditions.
  4. Initial Claim Review: Once your claim submission is received (including proof of purchase and all required evidence), Winmau will log the claim and begin an initial review. Winmau reserves the right to inspect the provided evidence and wear patterns on the Product to assess whether the issue is consistent with a defect or with ordinary use/misuse.
  5. Possible Physical Inspection: In most cases, photographic evidence will suffice to make decision. However, Winmau reserves the right to request the physical return of the Product for inspection or testing if necessary to conclusively determine the cause of failure. If we require the Product to be shipped back, we will provide you with instructions. You will generally be responsible for the cost of shipping the Product to us for inspection, unless otherwise required by law or agreed upon.
  6. Claim Decision: After reviewing the evidence (and the product itself, if returned), Winmau will make a determination on your claim. All warranty decisions are made at Winmau’s discretion.
  7. Remedy and Resolution: If your claim is approved, Winmau will, at its option, repair or replace the defective Product. Winmau may elect to offer a refund of the original purchase price or a credit toward another Winmau product, at our discretion.
Important: Replacement of the dartboard under warranty does not reset or extend the original warranty term. The replacement board is warranted only for the remainder of the original 5-year period from your purchase date of the first board.
  8. Timeline Expectations: We strive to resolve all warranty claims in a timely manner. This timeframe can vary depending on response times, shipping times, and investigation needs. We will keep you updated throughout the process.

Limitations of Warranty and Winmau’s Discretion

Winmau’s Discretion and Good Faith: All determinations regarding this warranty – including what constitutes a defect, whether the warranty conditions were met, and the appropriate remedy – are made by Winmau in its sole discretion. Winmau reserves the right to interpret the terms of this warranty and to make final decisions on claims.

No Other Warranties: This document contains the entire warranty given for the Product. To the maximum extent permitted by law, no other express or implied warranties are made by Winmau beyond the terms and conditions stated here. Implied warranties, including any implied warranty of satisfactory quality or fitness for a particular purpose, are limited in duration to the same five-year term of this express warranty (or the minimum duration allowed by law in jurisdictions that do not allow such limitations).

Limitation of Liability: In no event shall Winmau be liable for any incidental or consequential damages arising out of or related to the use or performance of the Product. This means that Winmau will not pay for damages such as (but not limited to) inconvenience, loss of opportunities to use the dartboard, lost games or tournament fees, damage to other property (for example, walls or floors) caused by a defective dartboard, or any other indirect losses. Winmau’s liability is limited exclusively to the repair or replacement of the defective product, or refund where applicable, as provided under this warranty. This limitation applies to any claims in contract, tort (such as negligence), or otherwise. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation may not apply to you in certain cases.

No Modification or Third-Party Liability: No Winmau distributor, agent, or retailer is authorised to modify the terms of this warranty or make any representations on Winmau’s behalf about coverage. Winmau is not responsible for any additional promises or warranties offered by dealers or third parties. Warranty claims must be directed to Winmau (or an authorised partner as instructed), and Winmau’s official determination will prevail.

Your Rights Under Consumer Law: This limited warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may also have other rights under the laws of your country, which vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. This warranty does not affect or limit any of your statutory rights as a consumer. Where any terms of this warranty are prohibited by local law, they shall be considered modified to the minimum extent necessary to comply with such law. In the event that any provision of this warranty is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full effect.

Governing Law: This warranty shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the country where the product was purchased, unless otherwise required by law. Winmau will abide by all applicable laws and regulations regarding warranties and consumer rights.
