American Jim Widmayer has agreed a 3 year sponsorship deal with Winmau, and will represent the global darts giant for the first time at the 40th Winmau World Masters this week.
Jim is number 1 in the American Darts Organisation (ADO) rankings, has won countless ADO events and will be participating in the 2014 Lakeside World Championship. Jim begins his Winmau partnership by taking part in the oldest major tournament in world darts – the Winmau World Masters – and will be aiming to reach the televised stages so his talents can be seen across the globe on the big stage.
Jim is also supported by Winmau’s American distributor Dutchman Darts, and Jim will work with Winmau and Dutchman to launch his own range of darts over the coming months.
Jim said "I’ve had a very close relationship with Winmau’s partners in the USA for many years, and have taken part in the Winmau World Masters before (and it is one of the best tournaments I have played in). I’ve always been impressed with how Winmau support the US market, so when we spoke about a potential sponsorship deal it was amazing news for me and I can’t wait to get my new darts from them. The icing on the cake is getting to play in the Winmau World Masters as a Winmau sponsored player and I’ll be doing my best to win the event.”
