FINALISTS FOR THE WINMAU WDDA WORLD MASTERS ANNOUNCED

Winmau, the world’s leading darts brand, and the World Disability Darts Association (WDDA) have revealed the 16 finalists from around the world who will compete in the 2016 Winmau WDDA BDO World Masters.

The Winmau World Masters is the oldest major championship in darts, and the 2016 tournament is the 43rdstaging of this prestigious event. It is the third Winmau WDDA World Masters, and 16 players will be competing to win the title currently held by Belgium’s Vincent D’Hondt.

Eight of the finalists have qualified as the highest ranked players in the British Disability Darts Association’s (BDDA) "Road to the Winmau Tour”. They are:

Ricky Chilton (England)

Robert Williams (Wales)

Paul Gelder (England)

Paul Hampton (England)

Graham Mitchell (England)

Phil Lees (England)

Tony Pass (England)

Richard Green (England)

Joining them are four players who qualified by winning international tournaments. They are:

Serge Van Belle (Belgium)

Frederick Maertens (Belgium)

Kevin Stringer (England)                

Arie van de Rassel (The Netherlands)

In addition, wild card invitations have been extended to Vincent D’Hondt (Belgium) who is the current holder of the Winmau WDDA World Masters, Lora Josey (USA), Mark Couchman (England), and Darren Agar (England).

This year’s event will see some of the world’s best disability players vying to win one of the most coveted titles in darts.”

We will be announcing details of the 2017 Road to the Winmau Tour shortly and I expect competition to be every bit as tough as it has this year.”

The 43rd Winmau World Masters takes place from the 1st to the 4thof December, at the "Home of World Darts”, the Lakeside Country Club.
