Bottenberg and Greaves Dominate TOTO Dutch Open Darts

Bottenberg wins thrilling final, Greaves claims title in women’s tournament

Jarno Bottenberg has been crowned the TOTO Dutch Open Darts champion of 2024. In a thrilling final against Wesley Plaisier, Bottenberg came out on top thanks to a fabulous finish: 131.

The match started off rough. Both players struggled with doubles in the first leg. However, this didn't faze Plaisier. He comfortably won the first set 3-0 without encountering any trouble. In the second set, Bottenberg started to find his rhythm: he took the first leg with a 56 finish. Despite falling behind in the same set, Bottenberg managed to level the score.

Even after four sets, the score remained tied; the fifth set would determine the winner. In that fifth set, Bottenberg began strong. He claimed the first two legs and had a match dart in the third. Although it was missed, the decision came in the fourth leg. Bottenberg hit a 131 finish.

Greaves dominates in Assen

Beau Greaves has once again emphasized her dominance in the women's circuit. After winning the doubles title earlier in the day with partner Jo Rolls in convincing fashion, she also secured the title in the singles tournament. She defeated Aileen de Graaf: 5-1.

Greaves also had something to set straight. Last year, she lost on the same stage to the Dutch player. She began the match with 19, 15, and 16 darts. However, De Graaf didn't give up. She hit a 100 finish with two tops to keep the match exciting. However, there wasn't more to come. Greaves regained her momentum and clinched the last two legs.

This is the second time Greaves has won the TOTO Dutch Open Darts. She achieved the same feat in 2022.

Mol and Raman triumph in men's pairs tournament

The men's doubles final was convincingly won by the Dutch-Belgian duo Damian Mol/Brian Raman. They defeated the Dutch pair Jimmy van Schie/Jeroen Mioch with a score of 5-1, displaying impressive performance.

The women's doubles final was also largely one-sided. Greaves showcased her dominance alongside her doubles partner Jo Rolls. The duo had little trouble against Lorraine Winstanley/Paige Pauling, winning 4-0.

Baalmans, Pauling en Szoták win youth titles

In the youth category, Ruben Baalmans, Paige Pauling, and Balázs Szoták emerged victorious. The talents were respectively the best in the boys', girls', and aspirants' tournaments.

Baalmans faced compatriot Cor Beukema in his final. Beukema started strong in the duel and even took the lead twice. However, Baalmans fought back. He clinched the title via double 1: 4-2.

In the girls' final, the match was more one-sided. Paige Pauling lived up to her favorite status and convincingly defeated the German Kira Mertens: 3-0. Mertens had beaten the defending champion Sophie McKinlay in the semifinals.

In the aspirants' final, we saw the 12-year-old Onni Pennanen from Finland and the 13-year-old Balázs Szoták from Hungary. Pennanen fell behind 2-0 but fought his way back. However, he couldn't complete his comeback. Szoták won the decisive leg with a 54 finish: 3-2.
